This past week, I’ve had a few conversations about children and behaviors. Some, with new School Psychologists (understandably) nervous about counseling this year and others with undergrad students starting to work with children for the first time. My advice is always the same…the data, the “work” can wait, start out connecting with children, learning about them, letting them see that you care, and you will get much further.
This new book by Dan St. Romain would be perfect for an educator book club. It tells us/reminds us to reframe how we think about student behavior, and gives us tips on how to help students by means of connecting with them. It’s an easy, quick read I’d definitely reccomend. I’m giving away 2 copies on Instagram and Facebook, if you want to read it yourself!
