For the majority of the years I have been an elementary school psych, I’ve used some form or another of reward systems for my students. The general way to earn a sticker in my room is to participating and showing expected behaviors. Whatever your system is (if you have one!), this is something you can easily set up before school starts to get it going from day one. Here is some more info. about how I use mine:
- All of my prizes come from Target or Amazon. I mostly stock up when Target has toy clearance sales and I go wild and buy all I can under $3. I try to only restock my prize bin once or twice a year.
- Kids have to earn either 5 stickers (if they come once a week) or 10 (if they come twice).
- I always have kids reflect on if they think they earned their sticker at the end of the session, while we do a check out.
- I love these emoji stickers because they go with the theme of my room!
- I print out a page of charts (so, 4) for each kiddo at the start of the year, and as new kids get added to my caseload. This way, when they need a new one I can quickly grab it out.
Do you use reward charts in your groups?
