I hope you have found something that has stuck with you in the past 30 organization posts I have shared. Being a School Psychologist is a big job.
We have so many roles as a School Psychologist, and let’s face it, our days are unpredictable. At the same time, many of us are “Type A” personalities. In the past 30 posts, I’ve shared ways that I have found myself to be helpful in helping to turn those chaotic days somewhat calm.
As I sign off on this series, I wanted to share you a quote (attributed to Ben Franklin most of the time, but others as well) that helps me, and has served me well. “A place for everything, and everything in its place”. To me, this not only means a physical place, but a pathway or form. So let’s say a teacher drops in during a group time to hand you the rating scale you’ve been waiting for…you take it and quickly toss it in your evaluation folder, you have a place for that. You completely forget you are due to observe a student today until your computer dings and tells you to…no problem, you hop on Google Drive and print the form in less than a minute. It’s the Friday before a long weekend, and the week has just not gone as planned. Your very energetic boys group shows up. No problem, you have a structure for your sessions, that you all know, and an activity in your back pocket to review what they are doing in a fun way.
Planning ahead and having these systems isn’t easy, but it is worth it. I’d love to hear your ideas, and love to hear if any of these tips work for you. Always message or email me, or follow along on Instagram or Facebook.
Happy School Year Everyone!!!!
