The most popular post on this blog by far is my classroom calming boxes. They were an awesome success in my school, especially during the implementation of our whole school positive behavior program.
Although the tools I use in my room and individual sessions are a bit different (see this post), the tools I equip the classroom boxes for work great for a variety of students and for a variety of needs. So without further ado, here’s how to equip your classrooms with $10 calming down boxes. These are mostly items that are discounted when bought in bulk, so they are perfect for setting up calming box classrooms for your school.
$1.99 Plastic Containers: You could use any plastic containers, but these from the container store have lasted me 5 years!
$16.00 for 10 2-minute timers: These are helpful for those kiddos who tend to want to spend the afternoon hanging in the calming corner. 🙂
Free 5 Finger Breathing & 5 senses visuals
$11.97 for 12 Puffer stress balls: Kids love these…even when they lose all their air
$7.99 for 12 Emoji Stress balls
Free: Paper and pencil or crayons. These are easy and important to include for students when they are unable to express themselves in words.
$9.97 for 32 mini bubbles. These are great for helping kiddos to try slow, deep breathing.
4 for $9.28 wooden fidgets: These are one of my favorites
10 for $8.99 noodle fidgets: Another favorite of mine. I love to stretch and knot them!
8 for $9.49 Monkey Fidgets: Kids use these all the time and they are great for not being too distracting during rug time, etc.
So there you have it, $9.99 for each classroom calming box! These are a great way to get students and teachers into the habits of using appropriate tools when they need them. Do any of you have these in your classrooms?
